Amgen Plans R&D Staff Reductions

Amgen plans to reduce its research and development (R&D) staff by approximately 200 positions by the end of 2017 across R&D sites as part of organizational changes.

The staff reductions follow an earlier announcement by Amgen in March 2017 that it was moving approximately 100 R&D roles from its headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California to facilities in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and San Francisco, California. The relocation of some discovery research and translational science staffers was part of an announcement of a new capabilities center in Tampa, Florida, which included plans to relocate, reassign or reduce staff by nearly 400 employees in Thousand Oaks, California over the next year and a half.
