Cerbios-Pharma SA, based in Lugano, Switzerland, has begun construction of a new building to accommodate R&D (chemical and biological) departments that will include laboratories and related infrastructure. The new building will be ready by the middle of 2015.

The first floor will accommodate new offices and archives, and the basement will accommodate a new warehouse. The chemical and biological R&D laboratories will also include containment capabilities. The chemical  R&D department will double its current laboratory surfaces for handling high-potency active ingredients up to Category 4. The biological R&D department will also double its current laboratory surfaces for the development of monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins based on Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) mammalian cell lines as well for the development of new pharmaceutical probiotics.
