J&J Names New EVP and Chairman of Innovative Medicine Segment
Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has announced that Jennifer Taubert, currently Executive Vice President and Worldwide Chairman of the company’s Innovative Medicine business segment will retire following a 21-year tenure with the company. She will be succeeded by Tom Cavanaugh, who currently serves as Group Chairman, North America, Innovative Medicine, effective September 1, 2026.
The Innovative Medicine business segment is the company’s bio/pharmaceutical business and the company’s largest business are. In 2025, the Innovative Medicine business had sales of $60.4 billion, representing 64% of the company’s total sales. Its other business segment, MedTech, which consists of medical devices, constitutes the remaining piece of the company and is led by separate executive leadership.
Cavanaugh has nearly three decades of bio/pharmaceutical experience and leadership across therapeutic areas, functions and geographies. He joined J&J in 2017, and has held senior leadership positions in oncology, immunology, and global commercial strategy. Most recently, he led the company’s largest commercial region. Prior to joining the company, he spent nearly 15 years at Celgene in global product development, global medical affairs, global & regional marketing, and regional management roles in Spain and the US.
