BMS Investing $2.3 Bn in Multi-Modal Mfg Campus in Houston
Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) announced this week (August 10, 2026) the selection of Houston, Texas, as the site for a new $2.3-billion, 600,000-square-foot multi-modal manufacturing campus as part of the company’s previously announced $40-billion, five-year US investment plan across research and development, technology, and manufacturing.
The site will manufacture multiple types of medicines, such as small molecules, biologics, and antibody-drug conjugates across a range of disease areas, supporting drug product and finished goods manufacturing from late development through launch.
The campus will be located in Generation Park, a 4,300-acre hub for the life sciences and advanced manufacturing in Houston. The company currently works with a contract manufacturer in Texas for both commercial and clinical trial manufacturing and in 2025, had 250 clinical trial sites in Texas to advance clinical research across its portfolio. The new campus is projected to employ nearly 500 people initially, with roles spanning operations technicians, production specialists, maintenance and engineering professionals, quality control and assurance experts, and site leadership and administration.
The Houston campus will add to the company’s US-based manufacturing network. The company’s flagship biologics manufacturing facility is located in Devens, Massachusetts, a 700,000-square-foot site for process development and commercial biomanufacturing, which also includes commercial manufacturing for CAR-T cell-therapies. The company also has cell-therapy manufacturing facilities for cell-therapy candidates and commercial products in Bothell, Washington, and Summit, New Jersey. In addition, the company has a 460,000-square-foot manufacturing facility for biologics in Manati, Puerto Rico, and in 2025, opened a new radiopharmaceutical facility in Indianapolis, Indiana. It also operates a site in New Brunswick, New Jersey, primarily focused on product and process development and manufacturing to support clinical trials.
