Asymchem Passes FDA Inspection for Continuous Manufactured API 
Asymchem, a CDMO of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and drug products, has announced that its dedicated carbapenem API manufacturing facility in Dunhua, Jilinc Province, China, successfully completed its first US FDA inspection on June 22, 2026, for a short-notice Pre-Approval Inspection (PAI), which occurred between April 27-30, 2026. The PAI inspection was conducted in support of a commercial API using continuous raw material feeding and reaction technology.

Biologics Manufacturing 

AsymBio Breaks Ground on New R&D Facility 
AsymBio, a biologics-focused CDMO and a subsidiary of Asymchem, has announced that construction of its new R&D building has officially broken ground at the Shanghai Fengxian site. 

Construction began in May 2026, with full completion and official commissioning slated for the second half of 2027. The eight-story building will occupy approximately 2,500 square meters of land, provide nearly 20,000 square meters of gross floor area, and be constructed in compliance with green and low-carbon construction standards. The facility will support cell-line development, upstream and downstream process development, conjugation process development, drug-product development, and analytical development services.

Appointments 

Famar Appoints New CEO 
Famar, an Athens, Greece-based CDMO, has announced the appointment of Bruce Vielle, currently CEO of Synerlab Group, as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective August 3, 2026. He succeeds Dr. Riku Rautsola, who has led the company as interim CEO since the autumn of 2025 and who will work with Vielle to ensure a smooth transition. 

For the past seven years, Vielle has been CEO of Synerlab Group and its successor, Meribel Pharma Solutions, most recently leading 2,000 employees across 13 manufacturing sites in France, Spain, and Sweden. Before that, he was Chief Operating Officer of Vétoquinol, a global animal health company, with responsibility for nine manufacturing site. He began his pharmaceutical career in site leadership roles at Unither, a CDMO of sterile and non-sterile liquid pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Wheeler Bio Names Chief Development Officer 
Wheeler Bio, an Oklahoma City, Oklahoma-based biologics CDMO, has announced the appointment of Rajesh Beri, Ph.D., currently a self employed consultant, as Chief Development Officer. With more than 30 years of experience in the biotechnology industry, Rajesh has led over 70 biologics programs across multiple therapeutic modalities, from preclinical research through commercial manufacturing.
