CordenPharma Completes Acquisition of Peptide CDMO AmbioPharm
CordenPharma, a CDMO of active pharmaceutical ingredients and drug products, has completed its acquisition of AmbioPharm, a CDMO specializing in peptide-based active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
AmbioPharm employs approximately 400 people across its two sites, one in North Augusta, South Carolina, and one in Shanghai, China, and the acquisition adds differentiated peptide manufacturing capabilities to CordenPharma’s existing peptides platform and expertise. Its CordenPharma Colorado site provides R&D and large-scale peptide manufacturing. CordenPharma also has a peptide development facility in Frankfurt, Germany.
With the closing of the transaction, AmbioPharm’s facilities in North Augusta, South Carolina will become CordenPharma South Carolina, and AmBioPharma’s facility in Shanghai will become CordenPharma Shanghai. The South Carolina facility expands CordenPharma’s downstream capabilities, including enhanced purification and expanded lyophilization, with additional investment in upstream capacity planned. With the Shanghai facility, CordenPharma adds upstream peptide manufacturing capacity.

Cambrex Begins Construction of $30-M R&D Facility at Small-Molecule Site
Cambrex has started construction of a new $30-million research and development (R&D) facility at its small-molecule manufacturing site in Milan, Italy. The facility will add advanced analytical development and process R&D capabilities, alongside upgrades to multiple production plants. The Milan R&D expansion is expected to be completed in the second half of 2027. To accommodate future growth and rising demand for CDMO services, Cambrex has also acquired additional land adjacent to the site for future capacity expansions.

Polpharma API, Celon Pharma in ADC Supply Pact
Polpharma API, a CDMO of small-molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients, has been selected by Celon Pharma to provide development and GMP manufacturing services for a payload–linker compound supporting Celon Pharma’s ADC development program. Under the collaboration, Polpharma API will contribute its expertise in high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredient (HPAPI) development and manufacturing and scale up and manufacture a payload–linker compound that includes a linker conjugated with monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE), a highly potent cytotoxic payload used in targeted cancer therapies. Following conjugation with a specific monoclonal antibody, the payload–linker material will be used in Phase I clinical trials of Celon Pharma’s investigational cancer therapy.

LTS Lohmann Breaks Ground on $30-M Expansion
LTS Lohmann Therapie-Systeme, a provider of drug-delivery technologies, has broken ground on an expansion project at its West St. Paul, Minnesota, campus. The multi-year expansion includes approximately $10 million already invested since 2024, with an additional $30 million planned through 2028. The project will expand research and development laboratories, pilot manufacturing capabilities, ISO 7 cleanroom manufacturing, quality testing infrastructure, warehousing, and operational facilities.

Thermo Fisher Completes $1.1-Bn Sale of Microbiology Business to PE Firm
Thermo Fisher has completed the sale of its microbiology business to Astorg, a private equity firm, for $1.075 billion, consisting of cash and a $50-million seller note. The microbiology business provides antimicrobial susceptibility testing and culture-media products for clinical, pharmaceutical and food safety testing. The business generated $645 million in revenue in 2025 and was part of Thermo Fisher’s Specialty Diagnostics segment.

Pace, a science and technology company, has appointed Andrew (Andy) Fenny, formerly Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of SK pharmteco, as President of Pace Life Sciences, the organization’s life sciences division, which includes its CDMO business. He has over two decades of experience across the CDMO and pharmaceutical sectors. Prior to his role as CCO of SK pharmteco, he was Chief Business Officer of Fujifilm Biotechnologies, a CDMO of biologics, advanced therapies, and drug products.
