Neuland Laboratories Opens First Phase of Peptide Mfg Expansion
Neuland Laboratories, a CDMO of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), has begun operations at its new peptide manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India, with the opening of Module One, the first of four planned modules in Neuland’s larger commercial peptide manufacturing expansion plan.
The newly operational module one was built with an investment of $30 million and provides 7,000-L of total reactor capacity, of which 750 L is for solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), and 6,250 L is for liquid-phase peptide synthesis (LPPS), which enables programs from small-scale to multikilogram quantities for complete peptide, including complex and long-chain peptides, as well as commercial-scale production of crude peptides. Additionally, the SPPS and LPPS reactors are housed in different suites to enable parallel operation and are supported by three dynamic axial compression columns [one 45 cm and two 60 cm] and two lyophilizers, respectively with capacities of 100 L and 200 L.
Following the investment in Module One, Neuland is aligning further investment for subsequent modules with new customer requirements. Module Two is planned to provide an overall reactor capacity of up to 18,000 L, comprising three 5,000 L LPPS reactors, as well as either a 1,000-L or 2,000-L SPPS reactor, and smaller reactors of up to the 1,000-L scale.

Evonik Breaks Ground on Fermentation Expansion
Evonik has broken ground on a new expansion project at its Fermas site in Slovenská Ľupča, Slovakia as part of the company’s EUR 80 million ($92 million) investment to expand its biotechnology capabilities and its contract manufacturing services for the company’s drug-substance business. The investment will add downstream fermentation technology to the site, increasing capacity for the development and manufacture of complex pharmaceutical intermediates. The project is expected to be completed in early 2028.

European RNA Alliance Launched
A group of seven European RNA companies has launched the European RNA Alliance (ERA), a strategic alliance of independent European companies active in RNA tools, services, bioinformatics, enabling technologies, translational research, manufacturing ,and molecular diagnostics. Seven founding companies, Anemocyte, Genevia Technologies, Immagina Biotechnology, Lexogen, MultiplexDX, siTOOLS Biotech, and TAmiRNA, are building a shared gateway to European RNA expertise, helping researchers, core facilities, biotech, pharma, and clinical teams find the right specialists and build integrated solutions.
Under ERA, each member keeps its identity, technology, and independence while high-value R&D, manufacturing, skilled jobs, and industrial know-how stay rooted in Europe. Through advisory panels, workshops, and events connecting academia, clinicians, and industry, ERA seeks to accelerate RNA knowledge across Europe, from basic science to pharmaceutical development while also mentoring the next generation of RNA startups and innovators.

Hovione Opens New Spray-Drying Facility in US
Hovione, a CDMO of drug substances and drug products, has opened a new 31,000-square-foot facility at its East Windsor, New Jersey campus that doubles the company’s US spray-drying capacity with the addition of two GMP-ready, commercial-scale PSD-3 spray dryers.
The opening of the facility completes Hovione’s current $100-million US investment cycle, which it announced in March 2026. The company stated that the East Windsor campus will continue to expand over the next five to ten years, with plans to develop approximately 15 acres of adjacent property into a 125,000-square-foot manufacturing facility supporting additional laboratories, commercial-scale spray drying, and drug-product manufacturing

Lonza To Build Commercial Spray-Drying Facility in Oregon
Lonza has announced plans to construct a large-scale commercial spray-drying facility in Bend, Oregon.
The new facility will be equipped with two PSD-4 spray-drying units, allowing for future capacity expansions as demand continues to grow. Additional upgrades to the Bend site include supporting infrastructure for solvent handling and storage. The project also integrates energy-efficient utility and process systems and enhanced emission-control technologies to reduce overall facility energy demand. The new facility is expected to be completed in 2029.

Argonaut Completes Divestment of Life Sciences and Diagnostics Division
Argonaut Manufacturing Services, a CDMO specializing in aseptic fill–finish of injectable biologics and pharmaceuticals, has announced the completed sale of its Life Sciences and Diagnostics (LSDx) division to 1315 Capital, a healthcare-focused private-equity firm.
The LSDx business will operate independently as Aluris Sciences, with 1315 Capital supporting its continued growth and investment.

Ecolab Opens Resin Mfg Facility in China
Ecolab Life Sciences, a division of Ecolab, has announced the opening of a new resin manufacturing facility for advanced purification solutions in Quzhou, China. The facility produced its first customer shipments in July (July 2026) and how has formally opened.

Bend Bioscience Appoints New President
Bend Bioscience, a Bend, Oregon-based CDMO, reports that Pavlos Pavlidis, formerly President and Chief Operating Officer at Medix Infusion, a healthcare company providing physician-prescribed infusion and injectable therapies, joined Bend Bioscience as President on June 15, 2026.
Pavlidis has more than two decades of leadership experience across pharmaceutical manufacturing, healthcare operations, and commercial growth. Most recently, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer at Medix Infusion. His career also includes senior leadership roles at McKesson, AppianRx, UnitedHealth Group, and Biogen.

Symbiosis Appoints VP, Business Development
Symbiosis, a Stirling, Scotland-based CDMO, has appointed Jay Chima, currently Business Development Director at the CDMO, Recipharm, as Vice President, Business Development.
Chima joins the business from Recipharm, where he served as Business Development Director, and prior to that, he held senior commercial positions at MedPharm and Advanz Pharma.

Piramal Pharma Adds Solar Power Plant to UK Mfg Site
Piramal Pharma Solutions, a CDMO of small-molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients and drug products, has added a 4.3 megawatt-peak (MWp) ground-mounted solar power plant at its drug-substance and drug-product facility in Morpeth, UK.
Once operational, the plant will supply the site with approximately 3,950 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity each year, meeting around 22% of its annual electricity demand. Featuring around 6,200 solar panels across 16 acres of land, the installation will produce enough clean energy to power approximately 1,460 UK homes per year. The project is being delivered under a Power Purchase Agreement with Alight UK BTM1 Limited, a leading solar developer and independent power producer.
Project operations are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
