Biologics Manufacturing

Lonza To Expand Bioconjugation Mfg Facility
Lonza has announced the further expansion of its integrated bioconjugation manufacturing offering. The company is combining mid-scale bioconjugation manufacturing with its previously announced large-scale bioconjugation expansion in Visp, Switzerland, which will now include three multiproduct suites.

The mid-scale bioconjugation manufacturing suites with 500 liter single-use capacity provide a flexible manufacturing environment within Lonza’s existing bioconjugation assets, supporting multiple products and programs. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the upgrade will add single-use equipment, chromatography capabilities and parallel manufacturing capacity to support faster campaign changeovers, more flexible planning and a broader range of ADC and bioconjugate programs.

The new large-scale bioconjugation facility is under construction at Lonza’s manufacturing complex in Visp. It will add three multiproduct suites for cytotoxic and non-cytotoxic products, with stainless-steel and single-use manufacturing at scales of up to 1,200 liters. Capacity is expected to be operational from 2028.

Stevanato, Aptar Form Pact to Facilitate Prefilled Syringe System Selection
Aptar Pharma, a provider of drug delivery, dosing, protection technologies and services, has formed a collaboration with Stevanato Group, a provider of drug-containment, drug-delivery, and diagnostic solutions, to provide system-level data supporting earlier evaluation of prefilled syringe configurations, with a focus on sensitive biologics and other injectable therapies. The work builds on Aptar Pharma’s integrated system-level framework, launched in July 2026, and brings complementary expertise together across the injectable value chain.

The collaboration combines Aptar Pharma’s expertise in elastomeric components with Stevanato Group’s expertise in prefillable syringe systems, primary containment and system performance. The joint work evaluates Stevanato Group’s EZ-fill  Nexa and Alba glass syringe platforms together with Aptar Pharma PremiumCoat and uncoated plungers, as well as Aptar Pharma’s rigid needle shield options for standard and autoinjector configurations.
