Olon, Zymvol in Biocatalyst Pact
Olon, a CDMO of small-molecule and biologic drug substances, and Zymvol, a company developing enzymes for biocatalysis, have entered an agreement designed to accelerate the adoption of biocatalysis in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Under the agreement, Zymvol’s physics-based, AI-enhanced enzyme discovery and optimization platform will support Olon’s customer and proprietary projects. In parallel, Olon will make its fermentation scale-up, process development, and manufacturing infrastructure available for Zymvol’s self-funded and customer-partnered programs.

Avid Bioservices Opens New Early-Phase Center of Excellence
Avid Bioservices, a CDMO of biologics, has announced the grand opening of its new early-phase center of excellence, a 78,000-square-foot facility located in Costa Mesa, California. The new center expands Avid’s development footprint and strengthens the company’s ability to provide end-to-end services from cell-line development through commercial manufacturing.
The facility brings together Avid’s core scientific and technical capabilities including: cell-line development; upstream and downstream process and analytical development; investigational new drug-enabling analytical method qualification and testing; early formulation development and characterization; and integrated tech transfer into Avid’s cGMP manufacturing facilities.

Univar Solutions Chosen as Ingredion Pharma Distributor
Univar Solutions, a provider of specialty ingredients and chemicals, has announced that its Ingredients + Specialties Division has been appointed as a distributor for Ingredion Pharma Solutions, part of Ingredion Inc.
The agreement includes distribution of Ingredion’s global pharmaceuticals portfolio and positions the company as the exclusive distributor of pharmaceutical starches in the US and Canada. This strategic partnership enables Univar’s Ingredients + Specialties Division to further diversify its pharmaceutical and nutraceutical ingredients portfolios with a broad range of functional excipients, including direct-compression and wet-granulation binders, fillers for tablets and capsules, superdisintegrants, lubricants, emulsions for encapsulation, and gelatin replacements for vegetarian softgel formulations.
