Amgen Seeks Sale of Colorado Facility
Amgen has named Binswanger, a real estate firm, as the exclusive agent for the sale of Amgen’s 692,000-square-foot campus on 70 acre located in Longmont, Colorado. Additionally, Binswanger is marketing Amgen's adjacent 158.54 acre parcel. Amgen had previously announced in 2014 that it would close its facility in Longmont as part of an overall restructuring plan.
The property consists of six buildings, four of which are laboratory, production, and office facilities interconnected with a central utility building (power plant) and a stand-alone warehouse on the northwest corner of the property. The property offers the capacity for expansion within the existing buildings, within the existing property boundaries and within the adjacent undeveloped land.
In July 2014, Amgen announced a restructuring plan that called for a 23% decrease in its facilities footprint and staff reductions. That restructuring involved the closing of the company's facilities in Colorado and Washington. Amgen operates sites in Bothell and Seattle in Washington, which include research and development facilities, and facilities in Boulder and Longmont, Colorado, which include manufacturing operations.
