Ashland’s Kentucky Facility Receives EXCiPACT Certification

Ashland reports that its facility in Calvert City, Kentucky, facility has earned EXCiPACT certification for good manufacturing practice (GMP). Its scope covers the manufacturing, testing, and packaging of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (PVPP) used as pharmaceutical excipients.

Ashland has established a goal of having all of its global pharmaceutical excipient facilities certified by 2017. Ashland supplies cellulosic and polyvinylpyrrolidone polymers to the pharmaceutical industry and relatechnical expertise and support.

EXCiPACT is an independent, globally recognized certification scheme for excipient suppliers that was launched in 2013 to ensure that excipient producers are compliant with GMP and good distribution practices. Thus far, 26 sites have received EXCiPAT certiciation, and Ashland’s facility is the first one in the US, according to EXCiPAT.
