Daiichi Sankyo Recalls Two Vaccines

Daiichi Sankyo Company, Limited reported on October 30, 2015, that it has decided to carry out a voluntary recall of two products manufactured by its group company, Kitasato Daiichi Sankyo Vaccine Co., Ltd. The two products, freeze-dried live attenuated measles, rubella combined vaccine and freeze-dried live attenuated measles virus vaccine, are being recalled due to results of stability monitoring revealing a possibility that potency of the measles virus falls below the approved standard within the product shelf-life.

At present, there is no report of any impact to efficacy and safety concerning the aforementioned vaccines, according to the company. In addition, serial numbered products apart from those indicated for recall are currently being checked to confirm whether their potency fulfills the approved standard.
