Ei Expands In North CarolinaBy
Ei, A Pharmaceutical SolutionWorks, a Kannapolis, North Carolina-based subsidiary of Daytona Beach, Florida-based Product Quest Manufacturing, began its move to the North Carolina Research Campus (NCRC) in Kannapolis. The move involves a 24-person research and development team into a 10,000-square-foot laboratory with office space in the David H. Murdock Core Laboratory Building. Ei operates 180,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities in Kannapolis, less than three miles from the NCRC. The company develops and manufactures topical, liquid, semi-solid, and loose powder lines for pharmaceutical products and therapeutic over-the-counter skin care and animal health products.
The move allows Ei to enhance its scientific foundation for dermatological product development and adds skin-biology research capability. The NCRC also offers a concentration of scientific expertise on the health benefits of antioxidants and other bioactive compounds found in fruits and vegetables that are regularly incorporated into skin care products.
The presence of the Ei team on campus provides an opportunity for campus scientists to collaborate with Ei on product formulation and development. Ei's move to the NCRC will occur over a four-month period so that the company's ongoing projects are not interrupted. The company plans to hire additional research and development scientists within the next year.
