GE Healthcare Acquires Bioprocessing Start-up
GE Healthcare has completed the acquisition of Puridify, a Stevenage, UK-headquartered bioprocessing start-up that is developing a nanofiber-based platform purification technology for biopharmaceutical production.
Puridify has collaborated with several biopharmaceutical manufacturers in developing its technology. GE says the platform is expected to bring productivity improvements in the process development phase and small-scale manufacturing for a variety of biopharmaceutical applications. GE Healthcare says it will invest further to bring Puridify’s platform to commercialization and fully integrate it within the bioprocess purification products already available at GE.
GE will acquire Puridify and all 17 employees of Puridfy will join GE Healthcare Life Sciences’ BioProcess business. The Puridify team will remain at its current location in Stevenage, which will serve as a small research hub for GE Healthcare Life Sciences’ BioProcess business.
