GE Healthcare To Invest $300 M in Emerging Markets
GE Healthcare, a healthcare technology division of GE, has created a new business unit, Sustainable Healthcare Solutions (SHS), to develop an affordable healthcare portfolio for customers in emerging markets. SHS will invest $300 million as part of a multi-phase effort for operations in India, South Asia, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
SHS will work with governments, clinicians, private operators, and nongovernmental organizations to provide solutions from basic primary care delivery to complex, structural healthcare challenges in health systems. The move supports the new 2030 Sustainable Development Goals being ratified at the UN General Assembly 2015 this month in New York.
