GEA, Siemens Partner in Continuous Tableting
GEA, an equipment manufacturer, and Siemens AG, a provider of industrial and manufacturing systems, have partnered to offer an integrated continuous tablet manufacturing line that comprises GEA’s ConsiGma continuous manufacturing platform equipped with a Siemens automation and industrial information technology software, including Sipat for process analytical technology (PAT) data management.
The combined technologies offer both wet granulation and direct compression in a standard-setting for continuous tablet production. The ConsiGma continuous tableting line is a platform designed to transfer powder into coated tablets in development, pilot, clinical, and production volumes in a single compact unit. The system can perform dosing and mixing of raw materials, wet or dry granulation, drying, tableting, coating, and quality control in one line.
Simatic Sipat is a scalable and modular software solution that enables extension of PAT-based quality control. With PAT, product development and production processes can be monitored, controlled, and optimized by measuring and calculating critical quality attributes of the end product in real-time. It also allows for real-time release testing.
