J&J Expands South African Manufacturing Facility

Johnson & Johnson has opened its newly refurbished ZAR 300 million ($18 million) pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Cape Town, South Africa. The Cape Town manufacturing facility houses tablet manufacturing, liquids, creams, suppository and ointment manufacture, sachet filling, packaging operations, and warehousing. Products produced onsite are supplied to the local market as well as exported to Sub-Sahara Africa and Australia.

The plant currently employs 130, and the expansion enables a doubling of the staffing over the next five years.
