Janssen Sciences Ireland UC, part of Johnson & Johnson (J&J), is investing more than EUR 300 million ($354 million) to expand its biomanufacturing facility in Ringaskiddy, County Cork, Ireland. The expansion will increase the existing biopharmaceutical manufacturing space by an additional 19,100 square-meters and will provide employment for up to 450 people during construction and an extra 200 people once completed.

Janssen Sciences Ireland has operated a biopharmaceutical supply-chain facility on its 400,000-square-meter site in Ringaskiddy since 2005. The proposed expansion project includes the construction of a new manufacturing building as well as expansion of an existing warehouse building, laboratory, and administration building. It also includes modification of expansion of other aspects of the existing site and infrastructure, including utilities, car parking, underground services, internal roads, yards, and pipe racks. There will also be expansion of the on-site wastewater treatment plant to accommodate increased volumes.

Construction on the expansion is expected to take approximately two years and is beginning in October 2017.
