Lonza has announced that Marc Funk, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), will leave the company for personal reasons. The Board of Directors also announced that Albert Baehny, Chairman, will take on the additional responsibility of CEO on an interim basis until a permanent successor is found. Funk will stay until January 2020 to ensure a smooth hand-over.

In addition, for reasons of good governance, Board member Christoph Maeder has been appointed Lead Independent Director by the Board.

Funk has been CEO of Lonza since March 2019 and was formerly President and Chief Operating Officer of the Lonza Pharma & Biotech Segment from 2014–2019. He has been a member of the Executive Committee since April 2012.
