Merck KGaA To Invest More Than $55 Million in Packaging Expansion
Merck KGaA plans to invest more than EUR 50 million ($56 million) in a packaging building at its pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Darmstadt, Germany. The Darmstadt site is the company’s largest site and center of excellence for oral and solid dosage forms. Smart-packing technology will be implemented in the new building. Construction of the 15,000-square-meter building is planned to be completed by the end of 2017 and expected to be operational in mid-2018.
The new center of excellence will enable the packaging of more than 400 million blisters or 150 million packs annually.
In Darmstadt, Merck hascommitted to invest around EUR 1 billion ($1.1 billio) until 2020, and this investment is part of that initiative.
