Merck & Co. Inc, known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, will invest EUR 11.5 million ($12.4 million) in its site in Carlow, Ireland to enhance facilities and services onsite.

This is the latest phase in a multi-year, EUR 312 million ($335 million) investment program at the Carlow manufacturing facility over the past seven years. The site, a 200,000-square foot biologics operation, is MSD's first stand-alone human vaccine facility. In addition, it is leading MSD's work in the development of a new oncology treatment.

In Ireland, MSD employs over 2,000 people across its five sites in Dublin, Carlow, Cork, Tipperary, and Wicklow. Its Irish operations encompass manufacturing, commercial, and marketing facilities.
