MilliporeSigma has opened a manufacturing facility in Mollet des Vallès, Spain to manufacture meglumine, a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved excipient for pharmaceuticals and a component of medical imaging contrast media.

The facility has been validated by the FDA and is solely dedicated to the production of meglumine, an amino sugar derived from glucose. As an excipient, meglumine interacts directly with active pharmaceutical ingredients to increase solubility.
