Nitto Denko Avecia, a Milford, Massachusetts-based provider of nucleic acid manufacturing and development services, has agreed to acquire the assets of Irvine Pharmaceutical Services and Avrio Biopharmaceuticals, both located in Irvine, California. Irvine is an analytical development services provider, and Avrio is a cGMP parenteral contract manufacturing organization. Avecia will consolidate both businesses into the newly established company, Nitto Avecia Pharma Services. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The acquisitions of Irvine and Avrio, expected to be completed in October, will boost Avecia’s analytical capabilities and complement its oligonucleotide drug-substance services.
