Novartis Expands Antibiotics Manufacturing Site

Lek, a Sandoz company and part of Novartis, is investing to expand production of broad-spectrum antibiotics at Novartis’ penicillin site in Prevalje, Slovenia. Sandoz is the generic drug arm of Novartis.

The undisclosed investment will increase the existing capacity at the Prevalje site. The investment is ongoing over the course of several years and includes land purchased in 2016 in the immediate vicinity of the Prevalje site. The first production lines will start up in 2019, after which new lines will be gradually phased in by 2023.

Novartis has invested more than EUR 30 million ($32 million) in the development and modernization of facilities in Prevalje over the last 10 years.
