Novo Nordisk, Amazon in AI Pact for Drug Discovery; Create London Innovation Hub

Novo Nordisk and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have formed a strategic partnership to accelerate drug discovery and modernize Novo Nordisk’s operations through agentic AI and cloud technologies. As part of the partnership, Novo Nordisk and AWS have created a co-innovation hub in London where engineers and scientists from both companies are using AWS’ AI technologies alongside Novo Nordisk data and insights to compress the path from drug target to first human dose.

The new agreement builds on an existing relationship with the two companies and includes using services such as Amazon Bio Discovery and Amazon Bedrock to identify drug targets, design new therapies, and connect genomic, imaging and clinical data to enable early research and shape clinical trial design. Novo Nordisk will also apply Amazon Bedrock AgentCore to drive efficiencies across its operations through AI agents.

This is the second major AI pact with a AI high-tech giant announced by Novo Nordisk this year (2026). In April (April 2026), Novo Nordisk formed a strategic partnership with OpenAI, the multi-billion-dollar AI research and deployment company, to integrate OpenAI’s AI capabilities globally from drug discovery to commercial operations. Under that partnership, OpenAI will assist Novo Nordisk in upskilling the company’s global workforce and enhancing AI literacy. The partnership will also apply OpenAI’s capabilities to improve efficiency in manufacturing, supply chain and distribution, and corporate operations. Pilot programs will launch across research and development, manufacturing and commercial operations, with full integration by the end of 2026. The move builds on Novo Nordisk’s current AI initiatives, which include collaboration with varied technology partners and research organizations to build the company’s AI capabilities.
