Recordati, a Milan, Italy-based pharmaceutical company, has acquired Pro Farma, a pharmaceutical company based in Zug, Switzerland, for CHF 16 million ($16.3 million). Pro Farma markets both prescription and over-the-counter drugs, including Lacdigest (tilactase), Tretina (isotretinoin), and Urocit (potassium citrate).

The acquisition expands Recordati's marketing operations in Switzerland, where the company recently began selling Livazo (pitavastatin), its anti-cholesterol drug launched in Europe in 2011, directly to the market.
