Sartorius Stedim Biotech Acquires US Start-Up
Sartorius Stedim Biotech (SSB) has acquired a US start-up firm called kSep Holdings, a centrifuge specialist based in Morrisville, North Carolina, in a transaction valued at $28 million.
kSep, founded in 2011, has developed and markets single-use, automated centrifugation systems for manufacturing biopharmaceuticals, including vaccines, cell-based therapeutics, and monoclonal antibodies. The centrifugation systems collect, wash, and concentrate cells in the downstream purification steps.
SSB will retain kSep's current leadership and staff and will expand access to customers, particularly in Asia.
