Thermo Fisher Scientific To Invest $50 Million in Bioproduction Expansion
Thermo Fisher Scientific has announced a $50-million investment in its global bioproduction capabilities to expand capacity for manufacturing single-use bioprocess container (BPC) systems at its site in Cramlington, United Kingdom and related capacity at its sites in Utah and Pennsylvania. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
Thermo Fisher’s single-use technologies are used for sterile liquid-handling in the production of biologics.
In Cramlington, Thermo Fisher will expand assembly capacity and add BPC systems manufacturing. In Logan, Utah, the company will expand cleanroom space for BPC chamber and related assembly production processes. The company will further expand capacity at its site in Millersburg, Pennsylvania.
