VWR, a Radnor, Pennsylvania-headquartered provider of product and service solutions, has acquired two companies, Reliable Biopharmaceutical, an Overland, Missouri-based active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturer, and BioArra, an Eagleville, Pennsylvania-based producer of US-origin serum-based products. Financial terms of both transactions were not disclosed.

With the acquisition of Reliable Biopharmaceutical, VWR gains API manufacturing capabilities and high-purity ingredients manufacturing, including cGMP excipients and advanced intermediates. The acquisition also expands VWR’s custom chemical and biochemical manufacturing portfolio. Reliable Biopharmaceutical offers scalable production ranging from small-batch clinical manufacturing to full-scale commercial production.

With the BioArra acquisition, VWR expands its portfolio with that company’s US-origin serum-based products used in research and production, boosting support for cellular science applications.
