R-Pharm, GE Partner for New Production Line
R-Pharm, a Yaroslavl, Russia-based pharmaceutical company, has opened a new production line for therapeutic proteins at its facility in Yaroslavl with the FlexFactory integrable platform, developed by GE Healthcare’s life sciences division. R-Pharm invested over RUB 1.5 billion ($23 million) in this project.
This platform is based on single-use technology and is a unified automation system. Installation of equipment at the Yaroslavl site began in the spring of 2015, and by October 2015, its functionality was confirmed. R-Pharm proceeded with a first series of preclinical trials in early 2016. The company expects to launch a new line of biopharmaceutical drugs, now that the new production line has passed qualification tests in accordance with the requirements for GMP.
